Episode one went up today.
Comeback Diary is a short series about the parts of training nobody films. Not the lift — the bit before it, and the bit after.
The first episode is fifteen seconds of somebody scrolling their phone. That’s the whole video. Because that’s what rest between sets actually looks like. You meant to take ninety seconds. You took four minutes. You didn’t notice either number.
The idea behind the series is straightforward. Coming back to the gym in September doesn’t fail because people can’t lift. It fails because the session quietly stretches to ninety minutes, and a ninety-minute session is the one you eventually cancel.
Rest is the variable nobody counts. Everyone counts sets and reps. The gap between them decides what the set actually trains, how long you’re in the building, and whether you show up again on Thursday.
So the episodes stay short on purpose. No coaching, no programme, no motivation. Just the small honest moments of getting back into it — the ones you recognise straight away, because you did the same thing last week.
More episodes through the autumn.
